Privacy policy

New IRC Users publishes practical guides about technology, social media, and online communities. This policy explains what information may be handled when you visit the site or contact us.

The short version

You can read this site without making an account or giving us your name. We do not run a newsletter, comment system, ad tracker, or contact form. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Our hosting provider may process basic network and device data to deliver and protect the site. If you email us, we receive the information you choose to send.

Information handled when you visit

New IRC Users is a static website hosted through Cloudflare. When your browser asks for a page, Cloudflare may process technical data needed to send it and keep the service secure. That data can include:

• your IP address;
• the date and time of a request;
• the page or file requested;
• browser and device details;
• referral and routing data; and
• security signals, error records, and request logs.

We use this data only as needed to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and understand the basic health of the site. We do not use it to build a profile of your interests.

AMP pages load the AMP runtime from the AMP Project's content delivery network. That service may receive the technical request data that browsers normally send when loading a file from another server.

Information you choose to send

There is no form on this site. You may email us at support@newircusers.com. If you do, we receive your email address and anything you put in the message or attach to it.

We use email only to read your note, reply, handle a request, protect the site, or keep records when the law requires it. Please do not email passwords, payment details, health records, government ID numbers, or other sensitive information.

Cookies, analytics, and ads

New IRC Users does not currently set its own cookies. We do not currently use an ad network, behavior-based analytics tool, or cross-site tracking pixel.

Your browser, network, security software, or a service that delivers site files may still use storage or process technical data for security and basic operation. If we add analytics, ads, comments, forms, or another feature that changes these practices, we will update this policy before or when the feature goes live.

How information may be shared

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share limited information only:

• with service providers that host, deliver, secure, or maintain the site;
• when needed to answer a request you sent us;
• to investigate fraud, abuse, or a threat to the site or another person;
• when we reasonably believe the law requires it; or
• as part of a sale, transfer, or reorganization of the site, with suitable privacy safeguards.

Our main infrastructure provider is Cloudflare. Its handling of data is also governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Our guides link to product makers and other useful websites. We do not control those sites. They may collect data, use cookies, or apply different privacy rules. Read their policies before giving them personal information.

Data retention and security

We keep information only as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose described here, to secure the site, resolve a dispute, or meet a legal duty. Retention times can vary by record and service provider.

We use reasonable safeguards, but no website, email service, or network can promise perfect security. Email is not a safe place for secrets.

Your privacy choices

Depending on where you live, you may have a right to ask what personal information we hold about you, request a copy, correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to some uses. You may also have a right not to be treated unfairly for making a privacy request.

Because this site has no user accounts, we may hold no information that we can link back to you. If you emailed us, send your request from the same address when practical. We may need enough information to confirm that a request concerns you. We will not ask for more than we reasonably need.

Send privacy requests to support@newircusers.com. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-site behavioral advertising, so there is no sale or sharing to opt out of at this time.

Children's privacy

This site is for a general audience. It is not designed to collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly do so. If you believe a child sent us personal information, email support@newircusers.com so we can review and delete it when appropriate.

Editorial and AI assistance

AI tools may help with tasks such as organizing material, preparing drafts, editing text, checking page structure, or making illustrations. Pages are reviewed before publication. We do not present generated illustrations as real product photos, and we do not use AI assistance as a reason to invent tests, quotes, sources, or personal experience.

New IRC Users does not currently claim an affiliate relationship. If affiliate links are added later, we may earn a commission when a reader makes a qualifying purchase, at no added cost to that reader. We will identify that relationship clearly where it matters. A possible commission will not buy a favorable finding or change the standards used in a guide.

Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy when the site, its providers, or the law changes. The effective date at the top will show the latest published version. A major change will be explained clearly on this page.
